December 2009 - Obama Christmas Vacation in Hawaii

President Obama and his family returned to Hawaii again for their annual Christmas vacation. They rented three houses at Paradise Point on Kailua Beach for family and friends.

2009 Hawaii Christmas Vacation Itinerary

Thursday 12/24/09
- The First Family arrived shortly before 3PM at Hickam Air Force Base
- Unpacked and settled into their rental house at the end of Kailua Beach at Paradise Point Estates on Kailuana Place. They decorated their 8 foot Noble Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.

Friday 12/25/09
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- The Obamas exchanged Christmas presents and enjoyed a traditional holiday meal of roast beef in their Kailua rental home. - Returned in the afternoon to MCBH to greet Marines eating their Christmas meal at Anderson Hall.

Saturday 12/26/09
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- President Obama went golfing at Kaneohe Clipper golf course at MCBH with Eric Whitaker from Chicago, and Hawaii friends Bobby Titcomb, Mike Ramos and Gregg Orme
- After golf, they stopped off briefly at Pyramid Rock Beach at MCBH

Sunday 12/27/09
- Early morning basketball at the gym - Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH)
- The Obama family enjoyed a beach outing and picnic at Pyramid Rock Beach at MCBH
- Dinner at Alan Wong's Restaurant in Honolulu

Monday 12/28/09
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- President Obama and First Lady Michelle played tennis at the Kailua Racquet Club
- President Obama addressed the nation at MCBH about the attempted Northwest Airline bomb attack on Christmas day
- A round of golf at Luana Hills Country Club

Tuesday 12/29/09
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- President Obama addressed the nation again from MCBH regarding the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas day.
- The Obama family enjoyed a picnic and snorkeling at Hanauma Bay

Wednesday 12/30/09
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- President Obama visited high school friend Bobby Titcomb in Mokuleia (up on the North Shore)

Thursday 12/31/09
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- The Obama family watched the 3D version of Avatar at a movie theater at Windward Mall in Kaneohe
- President Obama played golf at Mid-Pacific Country Club with friends Greg Orme, Bobby Titcomb and Mike Ramos.

Friday 1/1/10
- President Obama starts off the New Year with a game of basketball at the Semper Fit Center (MCBH)
- President Obama takes his daughters Malia and Sasha and friends out for shave ice at Island Snow in Kailua

Saturday 1/2/10
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- The Obama family visited Sea Life Park
- First family hits the beach at MCBH
- President Obama and First Lady Michelle had dinner at Lucy's Grill & Bar in Kailua with family and friends.

Sunday 1/3/10
- Early morning workout at Semper Fit Center at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe
- President Obama returned to the Kaneohe Klipper at MCBH for a final round of golf.
- He visited the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl to pay his respects to his maternal grandfather Stanley Dunham.
- The Obama family visited the Honolulu Zoo.
- President Obama and family departed Hawaii on Air Force One
